On May 14, our Civitan club proudly took part in the Craven County Hospice Fundraiser held at the Riverfront Convention Center. We reserved a table for the event — $150 well spent to support such an important cause — and quickly filled all ten seats with Civitans and friends ready to show their support.
Our very own Dennis Pymm served as our table’s “server” for the morning, and in true Civitan spirit, he also happens to be a dedicated Hospice volunteer. Each of us pitched in with a donation (or “tip”) in his honor. It was a fun and meaningful way to contribute to the fundraiser and recognize Dennis for all he does.
The breakfast buffet was catered by The Flame, and it was delicious! With over 550 guests in attendance, the room was full of good food, good company, and good will. Hospice representatives took the stage to speak about their work, and one exciting announcement stood out — Craven County will soon have its own “Hospice House.” This new facility will offer a comforting space for terminally ill patients who don’t have caregivers at home. It’s a project driven by generous community support and local business partnerships.
In the photo from the event, you’ll spot Server Dennis front and center. Going around the table from the left are Judy Lopez, Marie Leonard, Roy Leonard, Mary Kay Dyer, Cathy Welles, Ken Welles, Wendy Fleming, Wendy’s guest, Jim Comer, and Maureen Comer. A great turnout for a great cause!
We’re proud to support Hospice and the vital work they do. Thank you to everyone who participated!
