On April 3, the NBCC Foster Parents of the Year were honored. Social Services Supervisor Brittany Ratzlaff introduced Freddie and Rebecca Mercer. They have been foster parents for Craven County Department of Social Services since 2020. The Mercers have been married for fifteen years. Freddie has his own contracting business since 2008 and Rebecca has been employed at the same medical office since 2002.
The Mercers are a loving and compassionate couple. Even though they have four children of their own, they still wanted to become foster parents. They are currently fostering one little girls with a lot of special needs. This child requires, and gets, a tremendous amount of love. The Mercers are a strong advocate for this child’s requirements by making sure that all her medical, occupational, and dental needs are met.
