Frank Court: Civitan of the Year 2020-2021

The Peanut mogul of the New Bern Civitan Club, Frank Court, has deservedly won the 2021 Civitan of the Year Award. But those of you who know Frank know that he is so much more than a “peanut salesman”… much more.

Frank joined the Club in March 1999 and served as Club President in 2003-2004. It was a situation of someone is needed to be president and that’s what he did – he stepped up to answer the call. In his 22 years in the Club, he has recruited 14 members.

Approximately 16 years ago, Frank took over a great Club fundraiser selling HUBS peanuts for the club. This yearly project has turned out to be a MAJOR fundraiser and has netted the Club thousands of dollars over the years. These funds have helped support the yearly scholarships to New Bern High School.

If it isn’t enough that he coordinates and sells for the initiative, he would often travel to Sedley, VA, to pick up the cans when necessary. He delivers peanuts to the Farmer’s Market, helps set up the booth, recruits other club members to help sell, and he always emerges as the “top salesman” of the day.

During his presidency, he initiated the practice that the Creed would be recited by the membership during every meeting. Kids and Canoes started during his presidency, and he could regularly be found on the water in his kayak coaching and trying to keep “herding the kittens.”

Frank has served as a Club Director for the past 2 years and has agreed to serve again in 2021-2022. He helps review the Treasurer’s Records on a yearly basis and serves on the Scholarship Committee. He has been a “rib rubber” for the Rib Sales. In the past, he has opened and closed the tree lot and deposited the money in the bank.

Frank is a veteran who served proudly in Korea. His wonderful wife, Ann, is also a Civitan member. We are proud to award Frank Court, a very worthy recipient, the Civitan of the Year Award 2021. Thank you for all you do (and have done) for our Club!
