Salvation Army Major Karl Dahlin addressed the New Bern Civitan Club meeting on May 25th. He is the commanding corps officer for the New Bern division. He has been in that position since June 2022. He shared with our members that recently the New Bern division has taken ownership of two brand-new disaster response vehicles – one a commercial-quality mobile food kitchen capable of turning out 1500 meals a day; and another vehicle for general disaster response able to dispense meals produced by the mobile kitchen. Both were purchased entirely with private donations. These vehicles can help our community in any future emergencies, or they may be sent to other disaster areas.
The “Army” operates three retail stores In New Bern, Havelock, and Pamlico counties. NBCC Club President Gary Todd presented Maj. Dahlin with a check from the Club Charity budget to help the Salvation Army with its many good deeds here in New Bern.
