Recently, the New Bern Civitan Club had a presentation from three members of the New Bern High School Junior Civitan Club – Kadiatou Diawara, Kayla Turner, and Abby Rodriguez – who outlined some of the charity projects they have hosted since the beginning of this school year.
Their most recent project involved Club members preparing and cooking a full-course spaghetti dinner for the residents of the RCS Shelter on George Street. Using the culinary lab at the High School, many Junior members worked together to make this meal which fed about 25 Shelter residents. In addition, the Club headed a canned food drive that collected about 200 pounds of food for the Shelter Food Pantry. The advisor at the High School for this Junior Civitan Club is Laura Miller-McLemore and the NBCC liaison to the Junior Club is Jennifer Potter.
