Parks & Rec Gives Updates

Billy Wilkes, the Director of Craven County Recreation and Parks, dropped by as our guest speaker on March 28th.

He provided valuable insights into the current offerings of the county’s parks, including Creekside, West Craven, Lathan-Whitehurst Nature, and Rocky Run Parks. Moreover, there’s anticipation for a potential fifth park near Carolina Colors slated for opening in 2025.

These parks have many amenities, ranging from fields and picnic areas to boardwalks and hiking trails. The Parks and Rec department also hosts various instructional classes throughout the year, encompassing tennis, golf, kayaking, and beach volleyball. For the younger populace, there are youth summer camps, while Special Olympic activities, Senior Games, and Silver Arts cater to a wider demographic.
