About forty New Bern Club Civitans and guests enjoyed a good, old-fashioned North Carolina BBQ at our annual Club picnic on May 12th at Lawson Creek Park. Sunny skies and a gentle breeze were the order of the day. Fat Fellas of Newport, a veteran-owned business, catered the picnic. The food included pulled pork, fried chicken, beans, potato salad, hush puppies, and soft drinks. Several members made delicious desserts.
Our picnic chairpersons, Renee Salvatore and Susie Bare, did an outstanding job of coordinating this event. Tom and Joan Meutsch – the singing duo of Tom and Dahlin’ – provided excellent entertainment as always.
Our special guest, Marc Murphy, CEO and President of the Boys and Girls Homes of NC, addressed the group and thanked us for our contributions to the Waccamaw Way Bundle. An enjoyable time was had by all.
