Charles Wethington, Executive Director of Craven Community College Foundation (CCCF), received a $500 donation from NBCC President Gary Todd from the Club’s charity budget. Charles was the guest speaker at the February 23rd Club evening meeting at Paula’s restaurant. Mr. Wethington, as Director, promotes and supports Craven Community College in carrying out its charitable and educational purposes. He has served in this capacity since 2016.
Since 2005, our Club has donated over $17,000 in assistance, particularly through nursing scholarships. Nurse training requires students be full time in the program and not have an outside job as the college workload is extensive and time consuming. Our scholarships help these nursing candidates to fulfill this obligation.
In addition, Mr. Wethington shared information about the upcoming Community Fabric Awards to be held at the Convention Center on April 25th and the work that is done at the Volt Center where students get a variety of job trainings so they can join the workforce and obtain a livable wage. The Club members have been invited to tour this facility soon to see firsthand how this program is helping our community.
