At the February 10th meeting of the New Bern Civitan Club Vice President Roy Leonard arranged a presentation to the membership explaining how some of its charity donations are being spent in the Community.

Candi Parker, Branch Director of the New Bern Branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, spoke of the work and accomplishments of the charity. As Director, Candi manages the engagement and fundraising efforts of the New Bern branch which serves over 53,000 people of Craven, Carteret, Jones, Pamlico, and Onslow counties who live in food insecure households. The Club’s donation of $1,000 will help to provide 5000 meals in this community.

Christie Arrington is the Executive Director of the Vanceboro Christian Help Center (VCHC), an interfaith ministry made up of a diverse group of volunteers from churches, organizations and volunteers. VCHC’s food pantry addresses the needs of low-income individuals and households throughout western Craven County who lack reliable access to affordable, nutritious food, and may experience hunger on a regular basis.

Both of these 501C3 organizations expressed thankfulness for our Club’s continued support.
